Various means of curriculum transaction in classroom
Explain Stream of Consciousness
The effectiveness of curriculum transaction in classroom lies
in meeting the needs and expectation of learners that keeps changing as time
passes. There are various ways to ensure this:-
1) Self-Observation: Self-observation in the classroom
is a way for teachers to look back on their teaching strategies to analyse how
and why they were teaching in a certain way and how their student responded.
This can be done by audio or video recording of their own teaching in
classroom. The self-observation of this recording can offer teachers a critical
opportunity to see what worked and what failed in their classroom and in which
area they need improvement.
2) Observation of Others: Observing others teaching is
another way to make our teaching more effective. This is a way to analyse and evaluate
one’s own teaching practices. Teachers effectively acknowledge the teaching
strategies of others. This helps them to construct and reconstruct their own
knowledge and teaching skills.
3) Mindset: A change in mindset, mood and overall
classroom vibe begins with the teacher. If the teacher is excited about the
subject-matter, the students will tend to follow. Therefore, a teacher’s
mindset regarding how to design and deliver content is critical to the
innovative learning process and the effective classroom transaction.
4) Action Research: Action research is a sort of self-reflective
inquiry that we could initiate for the purpose of improving our own classroom
practices. In day to day teaching a teacher confronts a lot of problems. So,
the action research will help in identifying a problem, studying it and then
taking constructive steps towards solving the problem. Hence, to increase
effectiveness in classroom transaction.
5) Maintenance of Diary: The habit of noting down daily teaching experiences
and then analysing it periodically will definitely help in gaining powerful
insight into our own classroom behaviour and desired modification in teaching.
6) Feedback System: A teacher can develop a feedback system that would act
as a database to see effectiveness of instruction. This will give enough
insight into our functioning and providing us with the cons and pros with
respect to teaching learning process.
7) Resorting to Active Learning Activities: Using a variety of teaching approaches a teacher can effectively transact curriculum in a classroom. The more active the technique is used, the more easily the students understand the topics that bind the concept. Hence, more the opportunities a teacher provide the students, the more effective the teaching transaction turns to be.
Curriculum plays an important role in the development of thinking skills and the acquisition of relevant knowledge that students need to apply in the context of their studies, life and carrier. Major emphasis should be given on effective curriculum transaction and also to ensure this in any educational program.
